Lake Havasu has been home to the World Water Ski Championships and a host of other water sport world championships. The beautiful lake waters have also hosted the Chevrolet WWA Collegiate Wakeboard Challenge and the area has a long history of being the favorite site of some of the world's best wakeboarders.

If you're heading off the lake waters and to the amazing river scenery, note that water skiing or any similar recreational towing such as wakeboard and pulled tubing is permitted between sunrise and sunset only on designated portions of the Colorado River. Check with the local information counters for the exact geographical locations. Water skiing and wakeboarding is always prohibited in Topock gorge and all other backwater areas. Remember that there must be an operator and observer on board; the observer is to display a red or orange flag of 12 x 12 inches minimum, mounted on a handle only when the skier is down in the water; A skier must wear a flotation device; and that water skiing and wakeboarding is prohibited within 300 feet of a swimming beach or within 100 feet of any person swimming outside a designated swimming area.
